'Aiea High School
Welcome
After much preparation and anticipation, Aiea High School was visited by a three-member accreditation team during the week of March 2-4, 2009. We welcomed them with open arms and eagerly await the results of their findings.
We will begin the fourth quarter in April with the Hawaii State Assessment (HAS) for the sophomores (second year students). Testing will commence on April 7-14, 2009, please encourage your child to get a good night’s rest the night prior to the test and something to eat the morning of the test.
As a intervention to improve our attendance, we will continue to make a concerted effort to contact parents/guardians upon every tardy to school. The school will be calling you to inform you of your child’s tardy. Upon the third tardy, your child will be assigned after school detention for 90 minutes at a date designated on a letter that will be sent to you informing you of the detention date. Failure to show up for the detention will result in consequences by the administration.
Just a reminder to our seniors, the senior agreements are in effect. We have collected the senior agreements for implementation during the entire second semester. Please be aware of the major provision that will deny participation of a student from the graduation ceremony who violates any Class A or B offense during the semester. For Class C and D offenses, there will be a warning given and for any subsequent violation will result in not participating in the graduation ceremony; this includes excessive tardies and absences to school.
We continue to encourage your involvement and participation in our school and your child’s education. We look forward to continue working with you and your family. If you have any questions or concerns you may call the school at 483-7300.
Sincerely,
Michael Tokioka
Principal
