Ali'iolani Elementary School is located in the Kaimuki-Palolo area of Honolulu in a well-established community. The neighborhood is primarily residential with small businesses and apartment buildings lining Waialae Avenue and neighboring streets. Multi-generations of family members have attended Ali'iolani Elementary School.
Ali'iolani Elementary qualifies as a Title I school since nearly 45% of the students receive either free or reduced meals. The school population is very diverse with an increasing number of students requesting to enter Ali'iolani on a geographic exception.
The mission of Ali'iolani’s school community is to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment whereby all students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become contributing and caring members of society. The Friends of Ali'iolani, VISTA volunteers and various business/community organizations are key partners in supporting the students and staff at Ali'iolani.
In 2005, Ali'iolani Elementary was recognized as a NCLB Blue Ribbon School. The school’s faculty continues to strive for excellence by improving upon the curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
