Located on 14 acres in Waipahu, August Ahrens Elementary School has 27 portable classrooms and nine permanent structures. There are approximately 1250 students on campus, making this the largest single track elementary school in the state.
Two-thirds of the students are of Filipino ancestry. The school exists for the welfare of all the children it serves. This involves the development of each child intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially, morally, and ethically.
August Ahrens Elementary School has been a School/Community Based Management School since 1995. Students began wearing school uniforms in 1998. Success for All is the school's comprehensive reform model which was implemented during the 2001-2002 school year. An 8 classroom building was completed in May 2005. For the second consecutive year the school made Adequate Yearly Progress making it in Good Standing, Unconditional.
