Located on the former Naval Air Station, Barbers Point Elementary School has regular programs for kindergarten through fifth grade and special education programs for preschool through fifth grade. The school promotes academic excellence, physical education, and the fine arts. Students are given opportunities to participate in many enriching school activities such as Math Day (100th Day of School), President's Day Parade, Art Day, Fun Run, and May Day. The school celebrated its 50th year in the 2004-05 school year. Barbers Point Elementary has been accredited by the WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) since 1987. The school is currently operating under a School Community Council.
