Haha'ione Elementary School is located in an upper middle class neighborhood in Hawaii Kai and serves children Preschool-Grade 6. We are governed by a School Community Council (SCC) and operate on a 1-3-2 modified calendar. Our vision, " …where helping hands join on a journey of wonder and discovery", guides us. Our school community of children, parents, teachers and support staff are all "ongoing learners" as we continuously refine our standards-based curriculum to meet the strengths and needs of all our children. We hold high expectations for all our students as they take part in setting criteria and self- assessment of the work that they do. We support and nurture each other as we work and learn together with the "3 R's" (respect, responsibility, resourcefulness) and the General Learner Outcomes as guiding principles.
Our school offers a technology rich curriculum and special programs such as Special Education, Bridges (remedial math and language arts), English as a Second Language, Gifted and Talented, and parent tutoring program and counseling. Our children have opportunities to develop leadership and civic mindedness through Student Council, Library Club, Junior Police Officers, Yearbook Club, Peer Mediation and leadership opportunities in each classroom.
Our parents may be involved in many ways in the school. They may attend parent workshops, be members of the PTSA or SCC, may be room parents, parent tutors, chaperones, science lab assistants or assist us with special projects throughout the year.
We offer an after-school program for latch-key children. Any Hahai'one student may opt to enroll in the various enrichment programs available on our campus after school (Kindermusic, Japanese, Band and Orchestra, Kids Invent, etc.). Early morning childcare is also available.
