Hale Kula Elementary School is located on the Schofield Barracks Army Installation. The school is in the Leilehua Complex and services students from special education pre-school to the fifth grade. Transition and deployment issues are unique challenges the school must address due to the high number of students from military families. With support from the Joint Ventures Education Forum, Hale Kula now has a Transition Center to address the needs of new students and families.
The military community is a key supporter of our school through our partnership with the Special Troops Battalion as well as Project Assist. Many opportunities are available for parents and the community to become involved in school activities. The Parent Community Networking Center coordinator regularly recruits volunteers for classroom and school activities, parent education workshops are planned regularly, and the school Parent Teacher Association supports the school through its many family-based activities. Hale Kula has an active School Community Council; besides working collaboratively to develop and approve the Academic Plan and Financial Plan for next school year, the SCC created and distributed a survey for parents, teachers, and students to provide data and feedback about areas for improvement.
Hale Kula Elementary School's Summary of Progress Report shows how teaching, learning and assessments are being based and aligned to Hawaii State Standards and Benchmarks. It summarizes progress made in accomplishing school improvement goals.
