Helemano Elementary School is located in Whitmore Village, which is part of Central Oahu (Wahiawa). We are one of seven elementary schools in the Leilehua Complex. Helemano is a Kindergarten to 5th grade school with approximately 575 students. We qualify for Title I with 57% of our students receiving free or reduced lunches. As a Title I school and a Military Impacted School, we receive additional funding from the federal government. In addition, we have supplemental programs that support the achievement of all students, such as Head Start, ESL (15%), SPED (16%), and G/T Enrichment. During the summer, we subsidize a summer preschool program for incoming Kindergarten students and an arts program for students in grades first through fourth.
Our School Community Council actively supports the educational programs and activities at our school. The school sponsors two large school-wide parent involvement activities. Each grade level conducts a parent/child activity during the year.
Our two military partners, the 25th military police and NCTAMS naval base, superbly support Helemano School. Within the community, our business partners are Dole Company, Castle and Cooke, and Tamura's Market.
Helemano School is truly of partnership of staff, students, parents and community. As a school, Helemano continually strives to give the best education to our students and as a result, the best citizens to our community.
