Kaimuki Middle School

Kaimuki Middle School (KMS) has been serving the Kaimuki, Kapahulu and Kahala population since 1939. Our vision reads, ""Kaimuki Middle School...A place with heart, that challenges and strengthens mind, body, and spirit."" KMS is a dynamic educational community based on a culture of positive relationships, where values shape vision and vision determines practice. Our organization and operation promote the middle school concept where interdisciplinary instruction, teaming, inclusion, differentiation, technology use, and guidance allow students to become academically prepared for high school, develop positive personal qualities and social skills, and become effective problem solvers.

Kaimuki Middle School was accredited in 2000 by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges for a period of six years with a mid-term review. KMS has moved from a School-Community Based Management school to having a School-Community Council.

KMS was awarded a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1998; in 2000, rated one of the Top 100 Schools by the National Association for Secondary Schools; in 2005 noted as a Hawaii Distinguished School and in 2006 given the Best of the Best Middle School award by the Honolulu Advertiser. Ka?imuki Middle is also known for having many honors for its band and orchestra, math and athletic teams.
