Kaiser High is in Hawaii Kai, a suburb in East Honolulu. In May 2003, community profile of the "Kaiser Area," produced by the University of Hawaii Manoa's Center on the Family, describes the area as having a mature population with proportionally fewer children 18 years or younger and a substantial proportion of senior citizens compared to the State as a whole.
This still holds true for today even as new condominiums spring up across from the school. The population has slightly changed as 40 % are of Asian descent, approximately 33% of Caucasian mix, 19% Hawaiian or Part Hawaiian and 7% other. The populace generally works in managerial and professional occupations which contribute to a per capita income and percent of people who own their own homes that are the second highest in the State. 46% of the adult community has achieved a college level education while Kaiser High sends 80% of its seniors to post high school educational institutes.
Henry J. Kaiser has just completed the WASC accreditation visit this school year and awaits the decision of the WASC committee for length of accreditation received. This is the second year in a row that the school has met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and qualified as a candidate to represent Hawaii in the National Blue Ribbon Program. The school operates under the newly formed School Community Council.
