Kihei Elementary serves one of Hawaii's fastest growing communities. Its challenges include, a very large student population, high transient rates of students and the difficulties of coping with a poorly laid out facility plagued by dust and heat.
Kihei Elementary is a school in "good academic standing". Kihei Elementary is recognized as a "Beacon" school for reading which means that we have served as a model for other schools to follow. Kihei has implemented scientific research-based programs in reading, math and science. We have developed an exemplary system of support for all students. All programs are standards driven.
The Parent Teacher Student Association is very active and provides needed financial support to our educational programs.
Kihei Elementary School's Summary of Progress Report shows how teaching, learning and assessments are being based and aligned to Hawaii State Standards and Benchmarks. It summarizes progress made in accomplishing school improvement goals.
