Samuel Wilder King Intermediate School is situated on a beautiful campus bordered by the Koolau Mountains and overlooking Kaneohe Bay. It services students of various ethnic backgrounds who live in an area stretching from Kaneohe to Waikane. We are proud of our students' achievements in both the academic and co-curricular arenas and have managed to balance excellence in both the core subjects as well as the arts.
We are in the forefront for co-curricular opportunities that we offer our students. Each year, our Gifted and Talented Math students and teachers sponsor an elementary school Math Meet whereby our elementary feeder schools compete by solving challenging math problems. This year, we continued our own speech competition for the second year. King Intermediate School offers the following "clubs" to our students: Castle Performing Arts Program, JROTC, Crochet club, Karaoke club, Chess club, Hawaiian club, Nap club, Hiking club, Japanese club, and more. In addition, we sponsor several athletic events on our campus including crosscountry, volleyball, basketball, and track.
The King Intermediate Fine Arts Program is a source of pride for our school and community. Our band program is linked with our high school program to offer continuity and excellence in this area. Our visual arts program continues to be a winner with partnerships with the Hawaii USA Federal Credit Union and galleries afar. To top off the Fine Arts Program, our Hawaiian Dance classes took first place in the men's hula competition and second place overall at the Secondary Hula Competition for school year 2005-2006.
We are committed to planning as the Castle Complex of schools so that we are focused on the students' success from kindergarten to his/her graduation from high school. Each school in our complex takes pride in our students and community. Our most recent endeavor includes the development of the 5 Rs that we will be instilling in our children- respect, responsibility, resourcefulness, resiliency, and relationships. We believe that the quality of life in our community is secured in our children.
