Established in 1926, Liholiho Elementary School is situated in a residential community in urban Honolulu. It is one of six elementary schools in the Kalani Complex. The school is a feeder school to Kaimuki Middle School.
Liholiho Elementary School smoothly transitioned into a School Community Council governance system. Collaborative teamwork enabled our school community to develop our 2006-07 SY Academic and Financial Plan. Comprehensive Student Support System and Early intervention programs provide support for our students. Over fifty percent attend school on Geographic Exceptions. Parents have opportunities to be actively involved in the following groups: PTA/Laulima organization, Grade Level Parent Leaders, Parent Community Network Coordinator parent volunteers, School Community Council Parent Representatives. Each group has been supportive of our improvement efforts.
Our school was selected as a 2004 National No Child Left Behind- Blue Ribbon School. There are 50,000 public and private schools in the United States and 256 schools were selected as models of excellence. We were recognized as one of four elementary schools to receive the Honolulu Advertiser's 2006 Best of the Best Elementary School People's Choice Awards.
