Nanakuli Elementary School

Nanakuli Elementary School services the Hawaiian Homesteads of Nanakuli Valley and Princess Kahanu Estates. In addition to instruction in English, a Hawaiian Language Immersion strand provides instruction in the Hawaiian language.

In the spring of 2004, the ETS Pulliam Group became the school's NCLB external evaluator and consultant. Interim assessments and informal assessments are used to ascertain the students' progress towards achieving proficiency in order to adjust instruction.

Students may participate in groups such as Student Council, Booksters (library helpers) or Junior Police Officers Group. Students may also participate in extra curricular music groups such as Te Ua Loku Tahitian group and After School Performing Arts Group. An A+ program providing after school care is available for students whose parents are working.

The school schedule includes an Open House and several Student- Parent-Teacher conferences, two of which are student led. Parent meetings are about how to help students achieve and for family fun at holiday craft and movie nights.

Partnerships with the Queen Liliuokalani Children's Center, The Kamehameha Schools, Kaala Farms, the Nanakuli Homestead Association, Schofield military group, Hope Chapel, the Waianae and Kapolei Rotary Clubs, and Hawaii State legislators support improvement of student achievement and a safe learning environment.
