Royal School is the oldest public school, historically, on Oahu and was founded in 1839 by King Kamehameha III to educate the children of Hawaiian royalty. It is located in downtown Honolulu and serves students who live within the boundaries of Ward and Nuuanu and Dillingham and Prospect Street. More than 65% of the students enrolled receive free or reduced-cost lunch services.
We are proud to have been recognized as a Hawaii Distinguished School and student achievement in a caring environment remains our priority. Monthly PCNC sponsored Ohana coffee hours and PSAPassisted reading and math nights provide parents with valuable information and hands-on experience with standards-based curriculum. Our School Community Council and PTA work in concert with faculty and staff to support student achievement. School Community Council sponsored community meetings were held to promote two-way communication, school data information sharing, and academic/financial planning/approval.
Through partnerships and community involvement we have worked to make our vision TOGETHER: SMARTER, BETTER, HIGHER, a reality.
Royal School's Summary of Progress Report shows how teaching, learning and assessments are being based and aligned to Hawaii State Standards and Benchmarks. It summarizes progress made in accomplishing school improvement goals.
