Sunset Beach serves students from preschool to sixth grade in a geographic area extending from Waimea Bay to Kawela Bay on Oahu's North Shore. With the Koolau Mountains in the background and Ehukai Beach Park in front, it is a picturesque campus. Established in 1973, Sunset Beach is the northernmost school of the Windward District. Permanent facilities, including eight classrooms and a library were completed in the summer of 1990 and a cafeteria in August of 1995. Eighteen portables are used for additional classrooms, administration, counseling, and other programs. Comprehensive supports are offered to students to insure they are able to be successful learners. Students report feeling safe, wellcared for, and proud of their school. An active PTCA, School Community Council, and a variety of community partnerships provide both volunteer assistance and financial support to the school.
