Waialua Elementary School

Waialua Elementary School is a rural school on the North Shore. Low educational attainment, unemployment and illegal drug use are serious problems facing the community. Waialua is a Title 1 school.

In the morning students are involved in an integrated language arts, science and social studies curriculum, and a math curriculum. Every afternoon students attend academies of their choice where they apply the skills and knowledge learned in the academic classes to project based learning activities replicating the real world of work. The after school Tech Club and the Library Club provide students an opportunity to practice community service.

In the Even Start Parent Literacy Preschool Program parents participate in an adult and parent education program. The FAST (Families and School Together) is a scientifically researched program bringing family together to create a support system which will result in positively empowering parents to become effective parents and educational partners.
