Waikele Elementary School opened in the 1998-99 SY serving the Waikele and Waipahu communities. The school's curriculum is aligned with the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards; the instruction is based on the inquiry method.
The beliefs of the school are:
All learners learn at different rates and in different ways.
All learners need meaningful experiences in a safe, nurturing, intellectually challenging environment.
All learners are valued as loving, caring stewards of our community.
The 3 Take Cares are the basis for conduct of all members of the Waikele Learning Community:
Take care of yourself.
Take care of each other.
Take care of this place.
The systemic approach to learning is related to the vision of the school and is underlined by the looping of grades K - 1, looping of grades 2 - 3, and looping of grades 4 - 5. The same teacher follows the students through the three major loops. The middle school philosophy and concepts provide the foundation of grade six.
